The Santo Amaro Dock was a precursor of Lisbon’s reunion with the Tagus, a river which the locals had turned their backs to for decades. The redevelopment of this area of old port warehouses into a leisure and catering space, however, was instrumental in changing the customs of the Lisboans as well as in reconciling them with the river.
The charm of this Dock, packed full with boats and looking onto the river, south-facing and sunny, framed by the Tagus Bridge, instantly catches the eye of its visitors.
